Rebecca Hron is a New Orleans native and recent graduate of Tulane University, where she majored in Cell and Molecular Biology. Rebecca worked with Dr. Donna Neumann, Assistant Professor of Pharmacology-Research at LSUHSC-NO, during the summer of 2010 and has remained in her lab, continuing her research project throughout the year.
Her project involved the study of latency and recurrent reactivation of herpes simplex virus type (HSV-1) and role of CTCF protein. Rebecca presented a poster for this project along with Research Associate Amy Cammarata and Dr.
Neumann, entitled “Enrichments of the Cellular Insulating Protein CTCF Change in Response to a Reactivation Stimulus in Mice Latency Infected with HSV-1,” at the 111th General Meeting of the American Society of Microbiology held May 22nd-24th, 2011 in New Orleans. More recently, Rebecca was a co-author on a manuscript from Dr. Neumann’s lab that was featured in the Journal of Virology in the Fall of 2012.
