Over sixty students, including undergraduates, participated in the 2015 Biotechnology Workforce Experience in conjunction with their Summer Internship Program at LSUHSC New Orleans. Students visited NOBIC’s biotechnology incubator which included tours, presentations, and Q&A sessions with several start-up company tenants.
NOBIC’s Director of Technology Commercialization provided the students with an introduction to research commercialization and the university technology transfer process as well as an overview of the facility, the support services provided to tenants, and the regional bioscience community.
Representatives from several companies made short presentations to the students and spoke about their background and the reasons that motivated them to start or become part of their respective organizations. Participating companies included LaCell, ZenoPharm, and MiniVax.
